Tasks
The Lipizzaner stud farm Piber pursues a very important and responsible task: the breeding of the oldest cultural horse breed in Europe - the world-famous Lipizzaners.
The stud farm, with its surrounding farms and alpine pastures, is, so to speak, the home base of the white horses: their home from childhood, their school and leisure domicile in their youth, their love nest in young adulthood and their retirement residence after successful performances in Vienna and worldwide tours with the Spanish Riding School.
Every year, around 40 to 50 adorable Lipizzaner foals are born in Piber in Western Styria. And it is precisely these foals that are offered a varied, enjoyable, playful but also educational everyday life at the Lipizzaner Stud Piber - until they finally give birth to further foals as broodmares or move to Heldenberg near Vienna for training and finally to the Spanish Riding School in Vienna for their performances as sublime stallions.
After their work is done, both Lipizzaner stallions and Lipizzaner mares (after being used as broodmares or representative mares) retire and spend the rest of their lives at the Lipizzaner Stud Piber.
